A small but select audience gathered on Tuesday 3rd June to Celebrate the Best of Staffordshire. After a very frank and interesting keynote address from Jeremy Lefroy MP, 3 speakers accepted “best of Staffordshire awards” from the SNA.
Phil Tittensor, specialist epilepsy nurse at Stafford talked about his excellent community neurology service and highlighted his amazing impact in reducing unplanned hospital admissions despite having far less epilepsy nurses than the recommended ratio. The SNA had provided input to the service specification.
Leonie Patterson from the rehabilitation unit at Sir Robert Peel Hospital in Tamworth detailed their approach to helping People with Parkinson’s maintain their
mobility and self confidence, reducing falls and improving physical and mental wellbeing. They have also received an excellence award from Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Partnership Trust.
Dave Sanzeri from Stoke on Trent CCG detailed their positive approach to involving the patient voice in commissioning services, fully meeting the statutory requirement to involve patients and the public in commissioning decisions. The SNA is proud to be working with them.
Attendees were given copies of the innards of our new directory of services which will be fully available and distributed shortly.
We have already had many positive responses to the day including one from Lichfield Lions. They have been very generous in funding us and three of their members attended.”
