The health and care partnership for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent has been chosen as one of only a handful of areas in the country to benefit from a new scheme aimed at developing future talent.

Together We’re Better (TWB) has been selected as a pilot site for NHS Leadership Academy’s High Potential Scheme.

The scheme will support help in identifying and supporting the brightest stars in the local health and care system and help accelerate their career development.

Caroline Donovan, Lead for TWB’s Organisational Development programme said: “We are honoured to be one of six OD programmes to have been selected as a pilot site. This scheme will allow us to be involved in the early development of future leaders and nurture their growth.

“We will also be able to offer training to mentors, sponsors and assessors who will go on to contribute to the development of local aspiring leaders. This is a great opportunity to nurture the potential of talented people in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.”

Together We’re Better is part of the first wave of the scheme launching in summer 2019, with two groups of 40 people being involved.

Simon Whitehouse, Together We’re Better Director, said: “I’m delighted that we have been chosen from a large number of bids to help spearhead this exciting new scheme. It’s important that those taking part reflect the diversity of our communities in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

“I’m very much looking forward to seeing where this goes and to empowering the next generation of health and care leaders to support us to achieve our vision of making Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent the healthiest places to live and work.”
